Wang Gong Xin
My Sun

s

China (2000) installation

A woman stands in a field stretching out her arms to a light source. After some time the image of the woman multiplies over three screens and the individual becomes the mass. In this work Wang seems to be referring both to the recognizable aesthetics of Communist propaganda and Christian iconography, where light is an important symbol. My Sun is about the hope and dreams of an individual and how these relate to society.
