People are a lot like animals, it is a kind of biological characteristic to crawl. However people differ from animals in this world because they can stand upright, and man has changed his environment accordingly. "Swim" is a bantering statement. It records a performance by a man whose rudimentary forward crawl seems to simulate a breaststroke. We see him ‘swimming’ across the grassland, through the mountain stream bush, to the park, he has swum at night in the river, across the dining table, through a crowd where he is stopped by a police officer. Who does the crawling man represent? Workers? Peasants? Scholars? The businessman? The famous prostitute of the high-ranking official? Everybody had to crawl originally.
