Stories, random moments, mini dramas, the worries of life, of each individual, of every day. These are the thematic ingredients of the poetic work, Scale. Simple, realistic shots of a number of individual people (an old woman, a couple, a working man and a young man) are styled using playful computer animations into a fantasy rich choreography. The camera moves organically from one figure to the next and shows his/her position and personal worries. Various subjects come under scrutiny: loneliness, love, work, quarrels, birth and death. They produce assorted emotional moods in the viewer and ensure a varying atmosphere. Words are not necessary. The nature of the music and the visual scenes recount the actual affairs in which people are involved. Time and chronology also seem to have disappeared. Each moment is like the others. The characters, who apparently don’t really have anything to do with each other, come together at one point (without losing their own narrative and specific dealings) and create an aesthetic harmony. Scale presents the individual against the communal while at the same time showing that these are connected with each other. Basic themes of life for each individual and for each generation are of the same kind. Universal.
