Tokyo is one of the most unhealthy places to live in. There are few places where air pollution manifests itself in such clearly visible, sickening shapes. Watching this video brings to mind a newspaper photograph from a few years ago, depicting a traffic policeman wearing a gasmask, and the cry of distress from a friend who felt like she would choke on the gasclouds of that ciry. Nonetheless, millions of Japanese take the car to their work every day again. In 'E-the-real-r-oo-f' we join them on the many roads through and around Tokyo, we see shaky and lagging images of skyscrapers, buildings with scaffolding, neon lights, a city with a permanent lack of space where everything is piled on top something else, up to and including subway and railroad trackt. Over the buildings yellow clouds shut out the sun, here only on Sundays the sky is blue. Even the weather here is man-made.
