Cheryl Donegan's short, provocative tapes humorously present the themes of voyeurism, sex and eroticism which are so popular, particularly in the United States. Donovan performs in GracefulPhatSheba' and 'Head' (1993). The tapes are a documentation of that, without any additions or extras. It is particularly the dryness and the clarity that give them their power. In this tape, an orange plastic jerry can with a banana in it is hung up on a cord. Arabic music plays in the background, the shots are purposely quiveringly, 'romantically' emphasized and Donovan wears a white turban. We seem to have landed in a sultry back room, never to be bored by the same erotic actions. As soon as the music finishes, another tape is put on as quickly as possible, for the musical wallpaper only serves the unending visible repetitions.
