How should the world God be pronounced- It is not as easy to pronounce as, for example, the words goose liver. The question of the existence of God is not just a philosophical problem, but His name also occasions questions of language. In Hungarian His name is Istan, which produces images of an old man with a long white beard. When children say it, it smells of urine according to the protagonists who realise the conceptions of the Hungarian thinker Bela Hamvas in 'Het Nap'. The English God sounds as stiff as a shirt collar, whilst the German Gott... well! These are questions that Hamvas considered in his book 'Unicornis' and which now, a quarter of a century after his death, are approached from various perspectives. This intriguing production is part of a series 'Interlude', made for Hungarian television, which, using concepts from philosophers and artists from world history, deals with questions faced by ordinary people in their daily lives. 'Het Nap' starts from the simple thought that we are all equal in the eyes of God, but that that thought really gets us nowhere.
