The concept Revolution makes us think of shattered expectations followed by a spontaneous uprising of the despairing masses, of the toil of an advance guard which by chance can suddenly take over the political power from a calcified elite, of the introduction of new techniques in industry or agriculture, of the sudden appearance of changes in fashion or in social or sexual relationships, but not directly of Transparency. This tape contains some cursory references to the diverse variations of Revolution with regard to content: piled up corpses, a crowd storming the steps, soundlessly screaming mouths, a bewigged nobleman waving a rose as if in extreme defence. The principle portion of the images, however, is devoted to the orgiastic connotations of the revolutionary struggle; the Revolution devours its children, but not before they have first made new children. Marianne, bare chested, oversees the tableau vivant of Eros & Thanatos, that is Revolution as Perspiration.
