''Die Dummen sind immer auf der andere Seite.'' Although this remark has not been weakened in the regular use of language, the context in which it appears in 'Mauerläufer' is significant. Since large portions of the Wall between East and West Berlin have been pulled down and the marketable segments of it have provided the necessary pecunia for smart dealers, the then political tension has become a picturesque piece of German history. Two small red coloured figures find themselves on the Wall. Sometimes they pursue each other, sometimes they get entangled in all kinds of graffiti, alternating with photographs of Vopos, watchtowers and rolls of barbed wire. The real threat that until very recently still emanated from these hideous images, seems, now that this situation has been definitely relegated to the past, to be able to be used as an image to harmonise with the graffiti. From an artistic point of view, a complete symbiosis, now the reality.
