It is to Beth B.'s merit that her documentary goes back to the most elementary form of information transfer: letting people talk or giving them the floor. Those who take up the word tell of their problem-filled youth, their addictions and their from first to last desperate search for an honourable place of rest in life. Appearing, one after the other, unadorned and without any commentary, isolates these people from each other - despite their comparable circumstances - but on the other hand, it makes it as clear as daylight that only they themselves can alter their lot. Beth B. has produced a work of stature with this sober approach to a group of people who, for whatever reason, have fallen between two stools.
