A journey to the various levels of our being, as Viola sees them reflected in the world about us. In his search for the truth behind reality, the real world is pictured turned inside-out, and at reduced or increased scale. He is not afraid to explore his own limits either, and has deliberately taken time to do this. Weeks are spent with a herd of wandering bison, the passing of the seasons being carefully recorded. Hatching chicks, rotting carcasses and a ceremonial endurance ritual are just a few of the memorable details. The five levels of experience have been given the following titles: 'Il Corpo Scuro' (the Dark Body), 'The Language of the Birds', 'The Night of Sense', 'Stunned by Drums' and 'The Living Flame'. It is an inquiry that proceeds by way of the mineral, vegetable, animal, human, and higher unseen levels of awareness, and gives an insight into the furthest origins of being, beyond the limits of life and death.
