An obviously well-to-do young couple are dining in a smart restaurant. Shots of the table laid with colourful china are distinguished for their esthetic composition. The viewer is led slowly through a chic appartment. The silent, white interior feels almost sterile. The post drops in through the letterbox and the front door closes. These scenes are interspersed with fragments showing the woman walking over a bridge and others of her stopping on the hard shoulder to remove an unnecessary fringe. In the final section of the video, she is back with her partner again in the restaurant, where their conversation reflects a glaring lack of communication. The luxurious life-style of the woman consists of empty esthetics and unfulfilled desires. She keeps going by occasionally secretly distancing herself from her life-style. The isolation of this well-off woman is evoked by the meaninglessness suggested by the images and through the sparing use of sound.
