Pacing. The nervous, agitated, pacing about, going round in circles, in a space. A young woman walks apparently indecisively through her home. Apparently, but appearances can be deceptive. There is a subtle difference between musing and anticipation which her situation typifies. Now and then she notices the outside world through the images served up by a television. Also she peers through her latticed windows, so it appears at least, to observe on the other side of the street, the everday, tragic routine that is the life of a hospital or nursing home. The world is only beautiful in the eys of the beholder. The perception of the woman seems bounded and the boundaries between pure observation and imagination disappear when she seems to create a reality of her own in her isolation by mixing images from the interior and exterior surroundings with her own thoughts. The shadows and reflections in her world are filled-in with images from outside. Pacing. The fear of the decision or the relatively safe confinement of musing? It is the weighing up of wish and possibility.
