'We, someone, The Hopi People' is the literal translation of the title of this wholly Hopi-Indian produced documentary. Ross Macaya is the oldest member of the Tobacco-clan and his job is to hand down the history and prophecies surrounding the North American Hopi tribe. His contribution, to the photography as well as the sound track, allows us, as far as is possible, to share in their story. In order to make us feel at home with this different experience, the story begins with the story teller's reminiscences of his father, the intimate atmosphere heightened through the singing of a children's verse. And then...just listen! This is the story of the Hopi: after passing through three worlds they came upon this world. Initiated by Mesa, the spiritual leader of the Hopi, they surveyed their new world and found their present habitat and religion. Spanish oppression led to the 'Pueblo revolte', in which the Hopi, by sustaining the rules and prophecies of Mesa, adhered to the Ahl-religion. Finally, the ritual dances reflect the revival of their ceremonies and leave their future prophecies as a warning for the enlightened.
