Femmes voilées

Installation
The feeling of misplacement, expressed by three women, is made tangible rather than understandable by this video installation by Marie Deller. Despite the presence of the audience the veiled women continue their murmuring without interruption; but then they are not addressing each other or the intruders. It is possible that none of the three women is aware of the presence of others. Possibly the three veiled women are only aware of their own absence. Their introvert Belladonna eyes, the only visible witnesses of their presence or absence, can not be avoided. The clarinet player, in contrast with the women, calls it quits and disappears, apparently disturbed by the intruders. 'Femmes voilées' is an installation of esthetic melancholy.
