A touching video, which begins with the showing of old family films. In an intimate atmosphere, Skip Sweeney films and talks with his mother, several of his sisters, and his brother. They revive memories revolving around their already dead step-father. Wilbur, a fantastic piano-player and 'dried out' alcoholic, fetched up aller seven marriages as a bar pianist in a small town beside the Russian River, north of San Francisco, where the Sweeney family spent their yearly vacation. It was therefore no wonder that Bernardine, a widow since the previous year, got to know and appreciate him. But that this relationship should lead to marriage was a possibility that none of the family or their friends had foreseen, let alone greeted with enthusiasm. The anecdotes and the authentic shots of Wilbur's first Christmas dinner with the Sweeney family, interspersed with interviews with friends and musicians, show how special the relationship between her and Wilbur must have been.
