A train journey consistently kept in shades of blue is the occasion and starting point for a smooth but compelling tale, in which a man and the sea slowly acquire firmer contours. An incomprehensibly low voice tries to make us forget the monotony of the train-wheels. Water eddies slowly away and the shape of the man's body is blotted out by the next wave. The train jolts cautiously over the points. A voice whispers 'Encore' and at the end 'et pour toujours'.

wished the bridegroom well...
