An experiment at the cutting-room table turns out to be an experiment in the art of perception: the line between sea and sky takes on the solidity of a road surface. Of is the screen perhaps merely bisected by a compositionally useful plane? A walker in an urban landscape crosses the screen from left to right. The surroundings change, and image after image is fired off at the viewer with the speed and excitement of a pin-ball machine, but the walker remains caught imperturbably in a structure of image and sound. When he ends up outside the town, the mood of the tape becomes more serene and sophisticated. The study concentrates on changes in cloud formations. The light fades, and the walker pursues his path towards the horizon.
