Death. The first kind of death is the common one. The end of physical existence - inevitable for us all, and therefore almost forgotten about - suddenly becomes real when we are sick and the nurse hovers around he bed like an angel of death. Death. The second kind of death is when strength of mind and inspiration vanish forever and the demoralising realisation dawns that nothing one has created is really complete or can truly be understood by others. Death. The third kind of death is universal. It is the indivisible other half of life. It is everywhere present but is made visible only in symbols of time and decay. Used here are: the clock, insects, and - overwhelmingly - the almost Tarkovskian presence of water. Death. The fourth kind of death is the non-existent kind. A story by Dylan Thomas is finished, and the tape 'Rianon' begins.
