De vrouw van het Valtherpad
  Netherlands 1985-1986
Videotapes, 4:22 / 3:56, colour
This production consists of two separate tapes and is intended lor several monitors, preferably an odd number. Although the presentations bear a close relationship to each other, it is not necessary to run them perfectly simultaneously. The outer picture explores in silence a decor painted with wild and primitive symbols. The middle picture uses the same background, but includes the vaguely recognizable figure of a woman dancing in a terrifying head-dress. Her mask conceals her emotions, but the originally menacing music becomes quieter as the tape proceeds. This can perhaps be seen as a (free) interpretation of a legend from the Twente region of Holland.
