Four sentimental ballads of distinction! The humble dreams of a motorway driver are followed by three fatal highlights from the lives of everyday heroes, of which the most poignant is certainly that of the fair-haired little baby abandoned by its mother in a 'zone urbaine' and there devoured by a pig. But the connection between a bag of diamonds found by a cleaner at the airport and an Elvis run to fat will doubtless also stir many a heart. That this is no mere empty entertainment is shown by the symbolically heavily loaded story of the self-assured young beauty who abandons her powerful protector for ever. Should French ever be taught this way, future students will concoct the strangest sentences, possess perfect pronunciation and experience a great deal of pleasure.
