  Mako Idemitsu
Animus (Inner Man) Part II

  Japan 1981 / 1982
20:00, colour
In her earlier work Idemitsu used video to investigate conscious and unconscious behaviour of women. In this series she tries to visualize the 'animus'. C.G. Jung contrasted the conscious attitude to the outside world with the unconscious attitude within. 'Animus' is the projection of the latter by the woman on the man: the inner man who lives in every woman. In this product we see the 'animus' behaviour of Kishimoto during a performance. Idemitsu assumes that her own 'animus' is dominant in this production, in view of the 'masculine' way it was made.
