Although it isn’t especially recent, it remains bizarre and unique: In black & white. occasionally consciously clumsy, always filled with fun, subtle and cheeky. ‘Über Kultur’ is based on the conversations between Stanley and Livingstone about the birth of civilization with the odd pause. They found four paths. The video production consists of four tableaux and three intermezzos. Scott of the Antarctic (tableau) and the vocal 'I’m Living Alone and I Like It’ (intermezzo) represent the guardianship of nature although the breast refuses to stay inside the jacket. Curiosity about oneself is represented by the architect Alberti confronted with ‘Livin’ Doll’. In the next tableau Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday point out the attitude to strangers and aliens; 'Ich Liebe Alle Frauen!’ At last: 'Der Tod’. ‘Abdullah Frères’ is inspired by the story of a sultan who doesn’t want to go outside his door anymore, but who remains fascinated by the outside world. He sends the Abdullah brothers off to investigate and return with images. And there is another story, but that is another story...
