La Peinture Cubiste

A painting, the oeuvre of a painter, a school or a monument is juxtaposed with texts by a writer who allowed them to inspire him within the 'Regards Entendus' formula. Inspired by the text by Paulhan, Grandrieux and Kuntzel made 'La Peinture Cubiste'. Arriving home late and then trying to identify all the objects in a house which suddenly no longer seems so familiar; that is how Paulhan experienced Cubism. Grandrieux and Kuntzel do not show any paintings in their work. They try to stimulate the same experience by interposing use of the media film and video. They regard the dichotomy between film and video as an analogy of the break between 'classical' painting and Cubism. One can question their suppositions, but the quality of their work is beyond doubt.
