Educators and media spoonfeed the child with organized violence, while the soldier in Vietnam sees the fairytale heroics change with the first shot into an eternally repetitive nightmare of blood, pain, terror and death. Dan Reeves reconstructs Vietnam in a poignant autobiographical journey along the boundary between myth and reality ending with the question of whether he can ever live up to his resolution never to touch a weapon again.
