Enfances Choisies
  France 1980
Videotape, 37:00, colour
The French writer and aesthetics lecturer Gilbert Lascault asked eight artist friends to choose two stories each from his book of short stories 'Enfances Choisies' (1976) and to visualize them on video. Each of the hundred stories in this anthology concerns a fictitious moment of play or inspiration from the youth of a historically-known artist or scientist. In some cases a numher of artists chose the same story which, surprisingly but not unpredictably, was treated very differently in the various visualizations.
