Who was Holger Meins and how is he remembered by those who knew and loved him? Relatives, friends and acquaintances recollect him in an attempt to rehumanize the man, who went down in history as a R.A.F. terrorist, and to define his role in their own personal and political development. In 1975, 1981 and 1982 Jahn and Conradt interviewed Holger Meins' father, who never denied his son. They had a wealth of material: films which Meins made or helped make in his years at the academy, a television film made by Ulrike Meinhof in 1968, photos, his paintings, TV reports, performance-like impressions and theoretical discussions. Jahn and Conradt used it to construct, with care and without shying away from visual experiments, a committed portrait in three parts. Firstly of Holger Meins, secondly of those who knew him giving his life and death significance and defining their own roles. The third portrait is of the years 1968-1982 as seen and experienced in a way which was not been reflected in the official media.
