Women gossiping about each other and among themselves, adultery, a concerned mother and a licentious daughter form the ingredients of this tape. While the participants are Japanese and the whole tape is located in Japan, American influences are clearly discernable in the relationships between the people. Mako Idemitsu makes use of a screen within a screen - when two housewives criticize the behaviour of a third one, the absent woman appears on a monitor in the background, while herself suspecting nothing of the backbiting in the foreground. The people in the foreground and the background are oblivious of each other's existence and ignore each other. Only the viewer can see and hear both.
