Peter D'Agostino critically queries the hypothesis of Marshall 'The Medium is the Message' McLuhan that mass communication has reduced our world to a 'global village' and hence has increased participation. Using the vocabulary of television, he analyses in three parts - Tricks, Games and Puzzles - the influence of that fascinating and manipulative medium, which can make the unreal real, in our daily lives. D'Agostino's experiment is linked to Godard's video research.
