The axis of Life, from birth to death, spread out before us as an audio visual hypertext, as Grzinic & Šmìd announce already in 1994. "If it is true that we are all part of a giant hypertext coded by cd-rom adapted histories, then why not try to display the video pictures as hypertext, but one who will show the hidden spots of our history and present." That is precisely what this web site offers, an associative collection of downloadable clips. The clips are accessible in various ways. Landing on the home page, the surfer ends up in a 'corpse exquis' -like text full of hyperlinks in which the clips are recommended like a kind of perverted market product. "Want to embrace Hitler in a coffin of roses?" As an alternative, a menu with important themes like love/art/media/society, offers access to the video material. As well as fragments from films by Hitchcock and Eisenstein, the web site particularly contains cut-outs from Grûiniº & Šmìd's earlier video productions like Luna 10 (1994) and The Butterfly Story I (1994). Each category is supplemented with kind of 'further reading' - keys that make hyper links with material on sites like Dirk Paesmans' Jodi.org or Konrad Becker's T0. The observant surfer will gradually notice that, although the material is freely available, he is not just following links. Each link is coupled to a cgi-script and that means ...? Try to get out of the site via the exit-button.
