This hallucinating video (clip) is a skilful animation of dance movements to techno music. Against an alternatingly black and white background, we see an experienced dancer with a trained body moving to the rapid beat of the electronic music. These close-up shots pass the eye with stroboscopic speed. Although the editing technique does in principle make it possible for the viewer simultaneously to distinguish various dance positions (at least four), the eye only registers a few phases. These phases establish a periodic movement and form a dance position. When the changes in contrast and movement between the various shots are not so great, the animation seems relatively fluid. As was the maker's intention, this work visualizes techno music in all its rudiments. Technically, it is constructed so that each chord in the music is coupled to a movement of one part of the dancer's body. It is emotionally effective, in the sense that it would also be possible to hear the music and possibly to be transported even without sound!? (Sometimes the dancer looks at you really wide-eyed.) An attractive video production which has rightly transcended the club circuit. Also for people who don't like techno.
