In his paintings, photos, music and hypermedia art works, the Catalan artist Zush creates a completely individual, enigmatic universe. In ‘Psicomanualdigital’, a CD-Rom in development which Zush made together with MUBI media and Musiciansans such as Peter Gabriel, Tres and Jumo, you can move about in it in a playful way. ‘Psicomanualdigital’ reveals Zush’s Evrugo Mental State, an absurd, sensual, magical world, peopled by bizarre figures, full of provoking, candid symbols and signs, following the logic of Zush’s own alphabet Asura. Design and interaction of the CD-Rom are completely at the service of Evrugo Mental State. The main menu offers three options: Evrugi, The Body and Zush. In Evrugi, you penetrate deeper and deeper and along various routes into Evrugo Mental State. The images, manipulated or animated by the computer, introduce the language, symbols, possible inhabitants and sexuality of Zush’s alternative ‘world systems’, and they can be explored interactively in a playful fashion. The music is a continually variable directing or directable component in this. In The Body, an as yet unfinished section, the body - a crucial element in Zush’s work - can be approach from various angles. By clicking Zush, a dynamic panorama of Zush’s works is presented. You can also create your own work using digital tools designed by Zush. ‘Psicomanualdigital’ is ecstatic and humorous, but at the same time alienating and disturbing.
