We see black and white images of a man, played by actor Jurgen Persijn, walking across a deserted industrial zone. He is hauling along a trunk-like construction of bar iron. This strange, undefinable object is strapped to his back and has wheels on the underside. The man walks rapidly and somehow pent-up through the desolate area, without his purpose, let alone his history, becoming clear. You can only hear the wind, the panting breath and the man’s footsteps, and the noise of the wheels. The troubled man’s circular route, his disturbing panting, the images of the buildings and the disconsolate, grey surroundings, as well as the movements of the traveling camera - the man disappears from shot now and then - have an oppressive and alienating effect. You can almost physically feel the man’s burden. And you want this modern day Sisyphus to be released from his irksome prosthesis, from his Condition ...
