Videotape, 14:55, colour, mono
An accurate and extremely composed tape that shows a story in various sections without text. You feel a suggestive drive behind the changing images but you don’t know the story. Striking is an aesthetic and structural study of what nature looks like and how non-nature can look awfully like it. The music forms the entrance to the text-less story with its clearly separate sections, each of which brings the tape to another level. In this way, the jazz in the first section is the groove for a feeling of travel. And the ambient music that then follows is the entrance to the gathering silence of the graveyard or the desolation of a statue garden. Despite the fact that there are no people in this video it is clear that humanity was the all too human starting point for this videographic meditation on nature, the transience and the strange place that mankind occupies within it.
