Entropy,( n, a measure of the unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system that is a property of the system’s state and is related to it in such a manner that a reversible change in heat in the system produces a change in the measure which varies directly with the heat change and inversely with the absolute temperature at which the change takes place. (Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary). Müller-Pohle knows that entropy remains the same in a reversible process within a closed system and that is why he finds the recycling process such a dramatic item. ‘Entropia’ shows the destruction of photographic material. More than 11,000 photos, lithographic films and framed pictures are here ground to pulp. The waste material temporarily achieves a new meaning and value, as an objet d’art. Just a matter of temperature.
