The threedimensional narrative computer animations and manipulations by the Catalan Jordi Moragues are not just virtuoso pieces, but also contain humour and criticism - criticism of the run-away consumption and media culture. In Moragues’ videos, objects in particular poke fun at conceited mankind. ‘The Contact’ shows how in a play-time world, a golf ball in flight can be interpreted as a UFO: earthly worry gets confused with ‘extra terrestrial life’, that’s how it appears. ‘The Hit’ was given the slogan “La Inocencia es encantadora, refrescante y transistoria”. (Innocence is pleasant, refreshing and transitory.) The viewer is led via a long, dark corridor into a futuristic factory where countless hammers mechanically perform their soporific hammering. But suddenly there is a happy, decorated wooden hammer that starts banging out a liberating, Latin tune ... the ‘trailer’ ‘One Night’, based on Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliette’, is a touching tragedy that takes place in a supermarket at night, where the products come to life.
