  Tony Cokes
No sell out!
  USA 1995
Videotape, 6:00 colour, mono
Three image streams flowing into each other show a mixture of slogans, historical TV footage and anonymous images. In rapid tempo, the images and texts change and from the two songs mixed under the animation tape you get the idea that you are watching an alternative music video. The content, however, goes much further. Cokes provides criticism of society in unrefined form! With powerful statements: "I’m not your nigger! I’m not your commodity! The only progress we have made is as consumers!" he comments on three themes which for him are interwoven: racism, the perversion of the art market and the white economy in general.
