Torben Skjødt Jensen made his name particularly with rock-videos. He also produced a video for Amnesty International ('Amnesty human vision'). Jensen is an exponent of the Danish avant-garde (Lars von Trier, Ruge) which gave that country such a prominent position in the field of films and video. A combination of artistic mastery and social engagement make 'The flood' what it is: a collage of western culture. The white, western morality is symbolised by warlike video games in which cease-fires do not exist (Yugoslavia!) and Tin Tin is the striking personification of the pedantic arrogance of the westerner. But Europe is no longer a safe house on top of the world. ''The sea shall rise and the cities shall be washed away'', but this tidal wave might just one day be made up of the population of the Third World who no longer accepts the centuries long plundering and suppression. As Jensen says: ''The party is over.''
