Videotape, 8:00, black-and-white, stereo
''Me and God are tight'' says the basketball player. God is his manager, He ensures a fair game. In 'Super Ocho', Kristine Diekman is looking for an answer to the question 'what is God?'. Not that this production intends to be a religious investigation, because Diekman is interested precisely in the various representations that people make of God. In nine scenes, she takes the viewer with her on a search that leads to New York via the Mexican desert. A search for truth in which Lassie, a radio evangelist and an actress who says that she is in communication with God, provide intriguing moments. The title of the tape has various meanings. Ocho is Spanish for eight and that number refers to the medium on which Diekman shot the original material (Super 8) whilst the figure eight on its side is a symbol for infinity and thus a symbol for the concept of God.
