Abigail Child competes with Nam June Paik in this cacophonic storm of images in which experimental music and eroticism swirl about each other. Like the grandfather of video art, Child re-uses images from previous productions. 'Kiss of fire' - the 2nd of the 8 million stories which can be found in The Naked City - contains remnants of the squishy soap 'Swamp' (1990), now in an entirely different context. Child took the music of Ikue Mori as the starting point for this video album of erotic stories in an urban composition. Mori and Child worked together previously during the Videomusica project, held in 1989 in the Garage in New York. Music and image alternately provide the Leitmotif in the composition of '8 million'.
