Hanno Baethe filmed in India, especially in the metropolis Calcutta. In a documentary style with well thought out framing, he shows the daily life of the inhabitants which both day and night seems to take place principally on the streets. He also recorded ceremonies which find their expression in ritual dances performed by beautifully painted dancers. As a sudden change of style from the preceding, Baethe gets passers-by to repeat words like 'Kinderzimmer', Selbstverwirklichung' and 'Lebenserwartung' in German. They are words that seem to some extent to conceal the charged nature of the things we see and at the same time, they attempt to create a kind of understanding between the director and the surrounding culture that is foreign to him. Those interviewed really do their best to answer the questions properly, until the last one turns around and points a pistol at him / the viewer(-).
