  George Kuchar
Tempest in a teapot
  USA 1990
Videotape, 18:22, colour, stereo
We come across a somewhat melancholy George Kuchar who draws on his cinematic memories, for which he was given the Ave Maria award as a rather dusty plaque shows us. Well, that's really something. Successively reviewed are: the visual artist Bruce Conner who makes nightmarish collages using the photocopier and who has to have a tumour removed, dioramas with prehistoric animals and a curious story about a dog that fell from a bed, was crippled and had to go to the veterinarian. George lent the animal's owner the necessary money without expecting to get it back. When this nonetheless happens, the entire amount is converted there and then into pizzas. By the way, it is the same man who shows us his washbasin that has no drain. The pipe is there, as is a large hole. It is only the necessary connection that is missing. In the middle of this pandemonium of small and large inconveniences, there is one individual who remains externally unmoved, or at least, so it appears. It is Blacky, George's inseparable cat who has had to listen to this wailing year in, year out.
