Entre chien et loup
  Germany 1989
Videotape, 6:56, colour, no sound
"Ring a ring of roses / A pocket full of posies / Atishoo atishoo / We all fall down". Thus a cheering nursery rhyme from the time when the little sailor suit was still commonly popular. Gruber's sliding universe, with rotating light sources and steadily progressing shadows, offers an entirely personal historical insight, whereby truly everything can be coaxed from Pandora's box - a covered kitchen table of considerable size. Evolution is given an entirely different twist by projecting a dog to the size of a wolf. Moses in a basket between the reeds of a busy Egyptian waterway, two spoons looking for each other as if to protect the survival of their species; a third theory gets mixed in with the historical battle between the Darwinists and those who see creation as the source of life. Where two dogs fight over a bone, Flicki walks away with it.
