This year, our special focus is on Latin America. Besides the solo exhibition by Éder Santos, curated by festival director Tom van Vliet, special programme sections have been compiled by José Carlos Mariatequi of Alta Technologia Andina (ATA) in Lima and by Solange Farkas, director of the Associão Cultural Videobrasil. Their choice provides insight in the development of media art in Latin America, especially in Peru, Brazil and Argentina.

In collaboration with ATA and with support from Hivos, World Wide has been able to commission new works by five young Peruvian artists. Angie Bonino, Diego Lama, Iván Lozano, Iván Esquivel and José Carlos Martinat will personally present these world premières at the festival. Later this year all these works will be shown in Lima at the ATA Festival, together with the new installation by José Carlos Martinat, which unfortunately could not be finished in time for the exhibition in Amsterdam.

The installation 'Video' by Ivan Esquivel Naito is part of the main exhibition and the works by Angie Bonino, Diego Lama and Ivan Lozano are presented in the World Wide Media Lounge.
