Dia Center of the Arts Artists' Projects for the Web
De in New York gevestigde Dia Arts Foundation heeft een lange traditie in het presenteren en conserveren van controversiële, baanbrekende kunstenaars en kunstenaarsprojecten. In 1995 is Dia begonnen met het uitbreiden haar activiteiten op het gebied van nieuwe media door een serie kunstenaarsprojecten te organiseren voor het World Wide Web. Hiervoor werden belangrijke kunstenaars gevraagd die geďnteresseerd waren in de artistieke en conceptuele mogelijkheden van het medium. Omdat alle bijdragen vanaf 1995 te zien zijn krijgt de bezoeker een aardig beeld hoe de bijdragen op de website zowel technisch als artistiek ontwikkeld zijn. The New York based Dia Arts Foundation has a long standing record of presenting and preserving controversial and ground breaking artists' projects. Dia began extending its outreach through new electronic media in 1995 when a series of artists' projects were initiated for the World Wide Web. Projects were commissioned to significant artists interested in exploring the aesthetic and conceptual potential of this medium. All contributions, dating back to the first in 1995, are posted on the web providing an interesting overview of how things have developed not only technically but also artistically.
