World Wide

Video Festival

New media art from 23 countries is what the 16th World Wide Video Festival will present in Amsterdam from Thursday 17 September through Monday 21 September. At the Stedelijk Museum, the Melkweg, the Gate Foundation, MonteVideo/TBA, W139 and the Waag performances, installations, videotapes, CD-ROMs and websites will take central stage. The selection includes over a hundred works and many of the artists involved will come to Amsterdam to personally discuss their work. Also, in the Melkweg a seminar will be held. Local TV stations P.A.R.K. 4D TV, Bellissima en Kunstkanaal will dedicate a lot of air time to the festival in live transmissions and reports and by showing videotapes.
This year, the World Wide Video Festival will pay extra attention to media art from India, a country with an awesome film production system but where media art is a relatively new phenomenon.
The exhibition part will be open to the public through 11 October.
